52 Blogs in 52 Weeks

Updated: May 16, 2022

Okay I did it. Now what? I posted 52 blog posts in 52 weeks. A few times I wrote them in bunches and I also went a few weeks without writing any. What it amounts to is 52 in a year, which is just what the goal was.

Publishing is fun, I just don't like writing about it.

As much as I want to keep the subject around publishing, I lean on music and film to get me through. There’s so much concentrated in one song or film that I can barely capture a complete thought in 500 words. Still, it makes for a better read than book marketing or Amazon statistics.

Did you know that session drummer legend Hal Blaine played on a Steely Dan song? Yep: “Any World (That I’m Welcome To)" from the Katy Lied album. In a biography of Steely Dan, I read that they used him because they wanted to use Hal Blaine on something.

Understandable, but I wish it had been “Rikki Don’t Lode That Number” or another early track that would have been more interesting with his melodic stylings on the drums.

I digress again. Music this time.

I can’t wait to watch The Devil and Daniel Webster, the 1941 film directed by William Dieterle. I’ve never seen it, but a friend says I have to see it, especially around Halloween. Duly noted, although it’s been on my Halloween list for about ten years running.

I’ll get back to publishing soon enough. I’m working on Volume II of Unruly Mix, and it’s going well, just taking a long time. I’ll keep you posted.

In the meantime, have you ever heard Nick Heyward’s North of a Miracle album?
